A NEW SHAPE OF IMPLANTS WAS BORN FOR THE PREVENTION OF INCISIONAL HERNIAS

Laparomesh® Bio is a new generation of biological bovine pericardium membrane, composed of type I collagen and elastin. The multiphasic treatment designed and developed by Assut Europe, to which the pericardial tissue is subjected, is aimed at maintaining the three-dimensional structure of the collagen and its biomechanical properties. In this way, a matrix for the germination of fibroblasts, which promotes the formation of new tissues and blood vessels, is obtained. Simultaneously with the creation of new tissues, a gradual degradation of pericardial collagen occurs. Laparomesh® Bio, conceived as a reinforcement of the linea alba after laparotomy, has the purpose of preventing the incisional hernia in patients with scar deficiency. Its use, stimulating the growth of connective tissue, increases the size of the linea alba in width and height.The tissues of the area treated with Laparomesh® Bio, show a significant increase in mechanical strength compared to tissues treated with traditional techniques. Laparomesh® Bio should be used only in procedures performed in clean and/or clean - contaminated surgery.

METHOD OF IMPLANT

Laparomesh® Bio must be implanted along the midline, with the vertical band of the mesh positioned between the edges of the aponeurosis. The closure of the aponeurosis on the mesh is accomplished with a continuous suture of polydioxanone, polypropylene (Assufil® monofilamento, Assupro®) or Filbloc® (also available in loop version).

INDICATIONS

Laparomesh® Bio is indicated in Laparotomies in patients with high risk factors: cancer, diabetic, immunosuppressed, obese, and elderly patients in the following specialties:
